PLOMC Community Service is developing a safe, structured, supportive, home-like residential program for youth who need stability, guidance, and consistent support as they navigate major life transitions. Serving Northeast Pennsylvania. Located in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Luzerne County. Our Youth Residential Program provides more than a place to live—we create an environment where young people feel supported, build confidence, strengthen life skills, and prepare for a successful future. Youth ages 13-18.

Our individualized, youth-centered approach will focus on 24/7/365 residential support and supervision, educational success, life-skills development, family and supportive-adult engagement, employment and career readiness, health and wellness coordination, recreation, community involvement, and transition planning.

At PLOMC Community Service, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths and build toward a brighter future. Through structure, encouragement, accountability, positive relationships, and meaningful opportunities, we aim to help each youth make measurable progress toward stability, permanency, independence, and adulthood.

Empower. Support. Build Brighter Futures.

PLOMC Community Service respects the identified sexuality of our youth, including those who identify as transgender, gender fluid, and non-binary.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the PLOMC Community Service program is determined on an individual basis without discrimination based on race, color, creed, handicap, sex, or national origin. We accept referrals from various human service agencies and individual families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

PLOMC Community Service will assess each youth before admission to evaluate the youth’s ability to participate in the program. Youth must participate in life skills training and commit to further education to become self-sufficient and build independence. Youths who may not be appropriate for our program are individuals who have academic issues, behavioral issues, and a criminal history; however, 1:1 supervision is available.

1:1 criteria are based on a history of elopement, aggressive tendencies, and kleptomania. The home's admission criteria are based on how we can build the youth up, help them master coping skills, eliminate triggers, and support their growth. Youth with tendencies toward elopement and fire setting are ineligible for admission to the facility.

Education

PLOMC Community Service aims to provide the least restrictive educational setting for youth residing in our program. Each youth is evaluated to determine his/her needs and readiness to attend school in a community setting.

Staff at PLOMC Community Service maintain consistent contact with guidance counselors and teachers to support academic success and positive school behavior.

Recreation

PLOMC Community Service uses existing community resources. This includes the YMCA, churches, athletic complexes, movie theatres, state parks, libraries, and other cultural events within the community.  All children also have access to a variety of indoor activities.

Staff

PLOMC Community Service has a highly qualified team of administrative and youth care staff. It is the goal of our staff to provide a supportive environment in which each youth may find success in developing positive behaviors. Our staff works closely with referring agencies, families, and other supportive services to ensure continuity of care.

Our highly qualified administrative and youth care staff includes Youth Care Workers who hold, at minimum, a high school diploma and at least one (1) year of experience in the human service and/or child care field.

Administration and Support staff have degrees, college credits, and/or experience in the human service and/or child care field.
